Continuing on with my decorating of the front porch... with burlap... my new thang!
I made some cool burlap pillows to put on the front porch to match the wreath I made and the new cushions.
I bought the burlap at Jo Ann Fabric. It is really cheap. Then I cut the burlap into squares, and sewed the 3 sides up. Then I free hand painted the J on them. I waited until after I sewed the sides because I knew that it would be crooked if I did it first. I have a problemo with keeping things straight. So, I slid some newspaper inside so the paint would not go thru the back. I painted a couple of coats on the J. Stuffed if with stuffing, and sewed up the bottom. I think they look great. It was super easy.
Now I guess I have a themed front porch. Burlap and Monograms! Enjoy!

New Summer Decor
Sorry I have been slacking, like really slacking. I have completed some cool new crafts lately, just been too lazy to post about them. I will try to be better!
Firsts things First, I made a super cute wreath for my front door. It was so easy. Message me if you would like the instructions on how I made it. So simple and inexpensive. I think it turned out great. I am totally digging the monogram thing.

I also made some seat cushions for the bench and rocking chairs on my front porch. I got some foam and fabric from JoAnns. It was on sale which was a bonus. Whipped them up, added a little color to the front porch. I am pleased.

Just wait until you see what I am cooking up in my head! I will try to get busy with it this weekend. Also, some other cuteness coming later on! Here is a hint, flower girl dresses! Yay!

Update to wreath
This is an update to the wreath I made last week. The directions are on an earlier blog post.
I made a wreath for my friend who rocks, and complimented my mad skillz. Since I already made one last week, I knew I needed to tweek a few things. I painted the wooden letter that went on the wreath. I didnt know how to attach it since I used t pins to attach the fabric one. So I put velcro on the wreath and letter and ta da- attachement! I think this looks so much better and neater. I am glad my pal wanted me to make another one!
So, I am wondering if I should sell these on Etsy? What do you think? I am nervous about it. I dont know if I think its cute or if it really is. If you guys think it would sell, what price point?
Thanks so much for your feeback, I love comments!

Burlap Bucket
So, I was trying to figure out what I could put on my front porch for some decorations. I have a wind problemo on my front porch so topiaries blow over along with everything else.
So, I went to the Farm and Tractor store and got galvanized feed bucket for about $14.99. Then I went to Joann Fabrics and got a yard of burlap. They have different colors but I chose good old natural for $3.99 a yard. Got some stencils and paint from Michaels, a glue gun and I was ready to go. Totally pulling this idea out of my butt with no real goal invisioned.
I cut the burlap to go around the bucket. I laid it our flat and painted the stencil. I did my monogram and some flourish on the sides. I used a sponge brush and black paint, dabbed it on. Once it dried I glued it on the bucket with the glue gun. I wrapped the burlap around the bottom so it wouldnt rust sitting outside. I also made a smaller one.
I put river rock in the bottom so the stinkin wind would blow it off the porch. I got some pinecones for winter decor for 99cents at Micheals. Kinda bummed bc they only had 2 bags. I need more pinecones to fill the bucket. It looks kind of lonely now. Once I get more, I think it will look awesome. I am going to add some white lights at Christmas and change the decor each season. So, since it looked pitiful with the lame amount of pine cones, I stacked the bigger bucket on the smaller.
Not quite the awesomeness I was going for, but I am pretty pleased. Once it is filled it will be epic.

New Wreath
After I took down all of my Christmas decorations, I got a little bummed. My front porch looked bare. I didnt feel like putting up any of my old wreaths so I thought, huh, I'll make one.
I looked through Pinterest for some ideas. I really didnt find any. They all looked too difficult to me and I also have no attention span. So if a project looks like it would take to long, Im not doing it.
So, I kind of had an idea in my head when I went to the craft store. This is what I got. Sorry for the lack of detail.
Straw wreath $2.99
Burlap Fabric $2.99- on sale- 1 yard
Organza ribbon $2.50
Wood letter $3.99
2 zebra print flowers $6.99 each ( but used 2 40% off coupons) Woot Woot
T pins $3.99
So, this project was under $20
First, I cut the Burlap fabric into 3 inch strips. I wrapped the strips around the wreath, attached them with the T pins.
Second, I attached the flowers to the wreath, also using T pins. I cut the stems off the flowers and hooked them to the wreath. I used the extra leaves to ad around the flowers.
Third, I wrapped extra burlap around the wood letter just to fill in the white on the letter.
Fourth, I wrapped the organza ribbon around the wood letter. Using my glue gun and T pins to attach.
Fifth, Attach the letter to the wreath using T pins thru the fabric into the wreath.
Lastly, using the remaining organza ribbon, loop around wreath and tie into a know to hang on wreath hanger.
Ta Da, there is your easy wreath!

Infinity Scarf
I have been seeing these scarves everywhere lately. I love them. Here is my first shot at making one. I didnt use a pattern. I just made it up from single crochets then attached the two ends. I used a jumbo hook. It didnt take long at all. I am making a few more. Basically what I did was make a chain to my desired width, then did single crochet until it was long enough. It made a cute square pattern when it was stretched. Cool huh?
Pinterest Creation
This is my first attempt at a project from Pinterest. I was anxious at first because it requires the sewing maching and I hate my sewing machine. Well, I hate it because 1. I have no patience 2. I taught myself how to use it so technically I am sure I am not doing it right 3. I hate having to get it out and setting it up because I am lazy.
So, I decided to try to be positive about the whole thing and try it. It was going rather smoothly until my bobbin ran out of thread which really ticked me off. I was doing good, trying not cuss until that happened, oh well.
Here is a pic of how it was supposed to look.
And... here is mine
It didnt get as ruffly as the original one but I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I think it was the type of material I used.
