Me on a blog!

I have been following an awesome blog for a little over a year now. It is great, I love Rachelle. She is so cute. I decided to advertise with her to see if I can drum up any business for my etsy store. hint hint.

Anyway, I am going to try it and see what kind of response I get. She featured her new advertisers on her page, and I am on it! Yay! I feel important and proud all into one! I thought I would share her awesome blog and my awesome news!

New found food blog

I was honored to do hair for a wedding party this past weekend. It was on a beautiful farm in Lexington, VA. I met a ton of cool, new people like I normally do when I do weddings. So, I met this cool girl named Kath. I started talking to her while I did her hair (below) and realized that she is awesome!

She has her own, very successful blog. She is kinda famous in the blog world. She blogs about food, and she recently had a baby. She also blogged about being pregnant and now its about the baby. Also very cool.

I have never met someone who actually has a blog, let alone, a successful one. I loved going through and reading her post and looking at her pics. She posted pics on her blog from the wedding. i got kind of excited because she took pics of her hair, that I did. Anywho, I thought it was cool because thousands of people read her blog, therefore saw her awesome hairdo!

So please enjoy her blog! http://www.katheats.com/these-boots-were-made-for-dancin

Pink Hair...what?

As most of you know, I am a hairdresser by day, crafter by night. I had an awesome client today who wanted pink hair for breast cancer awareness month. She was totally cool and let me use my creative style. I love the result. It looks awesome! I am totally pinning this to compete with the other cool colored hair pics I see on there everyday! Enjoy and message me with any questions!

Flower Girl Dresses

As promised.... the flower girl dresses!

I was lucky enough to make 3 little flower girl dresses for my friend Justin and Nicole's wedding, and their beautiful nieces. First of all, I could have put a paper bag on them and they still would look adorbs!

So we looked at some photos to get ideas and came up with a simple black and white tutu dress.

I ordered the lovely flower for the sash from the etsy store, http://www.etsy.com/shop/Likron. She is in the Ukraine and did a fabulous job. I loved her flowers and asked her to make me 3 custom black ones for the girls. When I received them in the mail, I was so excited. They were even more beautiful than I expected. She is super nice and accommodating. I highly recommend her! :)

I was super pleased with the way the outfits turned out. The girls are so tiny, they looked awesome. Especially with their pink glitter TOMS! Cuteness overload.

One of the nieces is only 4 months old. She is sooo stinking cute. She looked presh when her outfit was on.

So without further ado... Here they are! I had to wait until after the wedding to share. I didn't want to ruin the surprise!

Funky Lime Green & Purple Wreath

I was already getting tired of the wreath I made about a month ago.... so why not make another one?

I love these colors together. All of the items to make the wreath were about $22 from Michaels. It would have been less if I had brought my coupon with me. I would have saved like $2.50. Oh well.

I used a grapevine wreath, one large flower, one bushel of purple feather flower things, 2 sprays of glass purple and green beads, one letter J, one spool of ribbon and green paint. Cut it all up and shoved it in the wreath.

It was really easy to make, just had to wait for the paint to dry. Hope you guys like it!

Crochet Bangle

I made these cool bracelets for my friend Candice for her birthday. She loves unique and quirky things, so I thought that this would be perfect.

I bought these plastic bangles at Micheals for $1 each, not too bad. Then tie off the yarn to the bracelet. I use a L crochet hook but you can use any size you would like.

Go to the top of the bracelet with your hook, wrap the yarn around to start your stitch. Take the hook to the bottom of the bracelet and pick up yarn, bring hook to the top of the bracelet, yarn over and pull thru 2 loops. This is basically a single crochet but you have to pull thru 2 loops to get around bracelet.

The thread will roll around the bangle which is ok. Make sure that all of the knots are pulled tight for a neater look.

Continue this all around bracelet, pushing the thread close together to cover bangle.

When crochet is complete, cut off end and weave thru bracelet to hide string.

The crochet row is not straight so you will need to turn the yarn around the bracelet to get it in a pattern that you like. I like it kind of zig zag.

These are fun and easy to make. I am totally making some of these in Hokie colors for football season!

Let me know if you have any questions.
